Recently, the No. 4 main transformer of the 500 kV Guishan substation expansion project was successfully energized, marking the smooth completion of the first phase of the project and the completion and commissioning of the first 500 kV project in the western region of the Southern Power Grid this year.
Located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, this project involves the expansion of two 1000 MVA main transformers and associated equipment, invested and constructed by the Yunnan Power Grid Company of the Southern Power Grid. After commissioning, the project will meet the power supply needs of southeastern Kunming, southern Qujing, and northern Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, ensuring power supply for the Yunnan Honghe New Materials Co., Ltd.'s 1.93 million-ton electrolytic aluminum project (Phase I) in Luxi Industrial Park, a key aluminum industry project in the province, supporting the development of "new three types" of industries, and effectively supporting the transformation of Yunnan's green power advantage into an industrial advantage.
This project is the largest renovation and expansion project in the Yunnan Power Grid, presenting challenges such as numerous cross-operations, complex power outages, and limited time and space for construction work. The Yunnan Power Grid Construction Branch and Kunming Power Supply Bureau jointly established a cross-management and coordination working group, building a full-process safety management mechanism to effectively control on-site risks and ensure the safe and smooth progress of the project. In the face of difficulties in power outage coordination and changeable weather conditions, the working group strengthened power outage planning, material supply, and cross-operational management, strictly controlling construction nodes and quality. All equipment withstand voltage, lightning impact, and partial discharge tests passed successfully on the first try.
