With a gentle touch on the computer screen in the control room, the drones sleeping outdoors are awakened. One by one, these aerial "sentinels" take off from drone nests scattered throughout Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, embarking on missions such as inspecting power transmission lines and towers, safeguarding the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
It is understood that the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of the Southern Power Grid has currently deployed 101 drone nests at 89 key sites in Shenzhen, covering more than 3,600 kilometers of power transmission lines. This is the first time in China to achieve full coverage of autonomous drone nest inspections of power transmission lines in a megacity.
The drone nests have important functions such as automatic deployment and charging, remote communication, data storage, and intelligent analysis. Based on the "nest + platform + algorithm" architecture, maintenance personnel only need to release pre-set inspection plans through the platform to remotely control the drones in the nests to automatically take off, perform refined inspections, infrared temperature measurements, and emergency special inspections according to preset routes. The system also performs AI analysis of inspection photos, promptly transmitting warning information back to the platform for manual verification and handling. This can save nearly 80% of manual operation time and increase inspection efficiency by nearly four times, truly achieving "more work by machines and more data transmission."
