Guo Yanheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Renewable Energy Information Management Center: Appropriately advance the planning and construction of new energy

On April 18, the second New Energy Power Development Forum and the eighth New Energy Power Plant Design, Engineering, and Equipment Selection Symposium, jointly hosted by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, the Renewable Energy Professional Committee of the China Energy Research Society, and Photovoltaic People, opened in Wuhan. Guo Yanheng, executive deputy director of the National Renewable Energy Information Management Center and deputy chief engineer of the Hydropower and Water Resources Planning and Design General Institute, delivered a keynote speech on the development path of new energy, suggesting that building a new energy system centered on the new energy industry, with the "source-grid-load" three ends working together, is the core of the future.

"Among them, the 'source' should focus on new energy, with the main characteristic being a joint effort. Power generation needs to be moderately advanced in layout, leading to a transformation in energy positioning, flexible power generation layout, and achieving new energy element guarantee; the 'grid' needs to build ultra-high voltage transmission channels, flexible DC and smart grids. The 'load' involves policy, institutional mechanisms, virtual power plants, demand-side response, and user-side energy storage," said Guo Yanheng.

Specifically, he suggested moderately advanced planning and construction of new energy. Because the construction cycle of the power grid is long, and the construction cycle of new energy is short, but new energy projects are basically set annually, while power grid projects are set a year in advance, making it difficult for the source and grid to coordinate. Therefore, new energy needs to be planned and set in advance, so that the planned projects can be carried out simultaneously with the grid, thus ensuring the synchronization of the source and the grid.
