China Energy News Network reported on July 18 that the first fully green electricity-supplied virtual power plant project in China officially went into operation in the Oriental Cable Park in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Reporters learned that the project has achieved traceable, all-green electricity supply for the industrial park. Through the coordinated operation of photovoltaic, energy storage, charging piles, and industrial loads, it can realize intelligent switching between multiple power sources based on real-time economic efficiency.
According to the introduction, this project was developed by China General Nuclear Power Group and is the first traceable green electricity-supplied virtual power plant project in China. The park has a distributed photovoltaic power generation capacity of 12.012 megawatts, and is equipped with an energy storage system, two 120-kilowatt dual-gun DC distributed charging piles and ten 14-kilowatt dual-gun AC charging piles. By integrating flexible resources such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and charging piles, it can meet 80% of the park's daily electricity needs, with the remaining 20% electricity gap supplemented by purchasing green electricity from CGN's Zhejiang Tucun offshore wind farm. Relying on the CGN virtual power plant demonstration platform, this project has constructed a multi-energy distributed resource integrated management model of sources, loads, storage, and charging, realizing 24/7 traceable green electricity supply, and providing users with clean and reliable power services.
While efficiently utilizing power resources, the CGN virtual power plant demonstration platform can accurately monitor and analyze the park's daily electricity consumption, power generation, energy storage, and green electricity supply ratio, and intelligently switch various power sources based on real-time electricity prices and other information, providing clear and transparent energy usage information and significantly improving project economics.
Cheng Hexiang, deputy chief engineer of China General Nuclear Power New Energy Holding Co., Ltd., said that this project, based on energy internet technology, breaks the limitations of traditional power plant operation models and productivity development paths. It represents a positive exploration of new business models such as electricity and carbon trading and user-side energy management services, and is a vivid example of using new productivity to promote the upgrading and transformation of the power industry. CGN will, based on the successful experience of this project, continue to deepen and improve the project's economic benefits and market competitiveness, and replicate and promote the fully green electricity virtual power plant model nationwide, especially in areas rich in green energy and with high demand, to promote the efficient utilization and sustainable development of green energy in more regions.
