The groundbreaking ceremony for Goldwind Science & Technology's and Tianrun New Energy's 2024 projects was recently held in Mulei County, Xinjiang, marking the commencement of construction on Goldwind's 800,000-kW experimental wind farm project in Mulei County. This project is fundamental to boosting the development of Mulei County's new energy industry and building a ten-million-kW-level new energy base.
It is understood that Goldwind's 800,000-kW experimental wind farm project in Mulei County is designed to be a comprehensive experimental wind farm encompassing single-unit experiments, wind farm cluster linkage experiments, and intelligent coupling experiments. The project utilizes 95 wind turbine units, constructing a new 220kV step-up substation and a 220kV booster station, with full-capacity grid connection expected by the end of 2024. "After completion, the project's annual power generation will be equivalent to reducing the consumption of 580,000 tons of standard coal." said Li Fei, Vice President of Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd.
In recent years, Mulei County has prioritized the construction of new energy industry projects, firmly focusing on high-quality economic development. Currently, the annual electricity generation from new energy sources in the area exceeds 10 billion kWh, accounting for more than one-tenth of the total in Xinjiang.
Lu Xiurong, Party Secretary of the Mulei County Development and Reform Commission, said: "In 2024, we will focus on the 'dual-thousand, dual-hundred, dual-base' goal for the new energy industry. Through strengthening factor support, accelerating power generation, achieving breakthroughs in green energy consumption, and upgrading equipment manufacturing, we strive for breakthrough growth in the new energy industry and achieve the construction goal of the first ten-million-kW-level new energy base."
Currently, Mulei County has accumulated nearly 55 billion yuan in investment in wind and solar power projects, gradually forming a comprehensive industrial development pattern integrating 'construction, power generation, transmission, energy storage, energy use, and manufacturing.' The region has accumulated approved new energy development indicators of 18.98 million kW, and by the end of 2025, installed capacity will exceed ten million kW.
