On May 29, the 1.5GW photovoltaic engineering general contracting (II section) of the China Energy Engineering Corporation Hebei Engineering Company's Zhonglvdian Urumqi Midong District 3.5GW photovoltaic project successfully connected to the grid, contributing to the transformation of the desert into a sea of energy and the construction of a beautiful Xinjiang.
This project is the world's largest single photovoltaic project, marking the green energy industry's operating capacity exceeding 10 million and officially entering the "10 million installed capacity" category. Located in the northern desert of Urumqi Midong District, the project covers an area of approximately 200,000 mu, with an installed capacity of 3.5GW. Hebei Engineering Company undertakes 1.5GW, constructing four 220kV step-up and collection stations, each with a 220kV transmission line. The project's "green electricity" is transmitted to the Xinjiang State Grid's 750kV substation via four 220kV transmission lines.
After completion, the Zhonglvdian Urumqi Midong District 3.5GW project will have an average annual power generation of 6.09 billion kWh. Compared with coal-fired power plants of the same scale, it will save approximately 1.9488 million tons of standard coal annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 6.0717 million tons, dust by approximately 1.6565 million tons, and nitrogen oxides by approximately 91,350 tons. This project is of great significance in assisting the country in achieving its "dual carbon" strategic goals, accelerating the optimization of the local energy structure, and promoting the development of the electricity market.
